چکیده

We report high spatial resolution VLA observations of the low-mass starforming region IRAS 16293-2422 using four molecular probes: ethyl cyanide (CH3CH2CN), methyl formate (CH3OCHO), formic acid (HCOOH), and the ground vibrational state of silicon monoxide (SiO). Ethyl cyanide emission has a spatial scale of ∼20 and encompasses binary cores A and B as determined by continuum emission peaks. Surrounded by formic acid emission, methyl formate emission has a spatial scale of ∼6and is confined to core B. SiO emission shows two velocity components with spatial scales less than 2 that map ∼2 northeast of the A and B symmetry axis. The redshifted SiO is ∼2 northwest of blueshifted SiO along a position angle of ∼135 which is approximately parallel to the A and B symmetry axis. We interpret the spatial position offset in red and blueshifted SiO emission as due to rotation of a protostellar accretion disk and we derive ∼1.4 M⊙ interior to the SiO emission. In the same vicinity, Mundy et al. (1986) also concluded rotation of a nearly edge-on disk from OVRO observations of much stronger and ubiquitous CO emission but the direction of rotation is opposite to the SiO emission findings. Taken together, SiO and CO data suggest evidence for a counter-rotating disk. Moreover, archival BIMA array CO data show an inverse P Cygni profile with the strongest absorption in close proximity to the SiO emission, indicating unambiguous material infall toward the counter-rotating protostellar disk at a new source location within the IRAS 16293-2422 complex. The details of these observations and our interpretations are discussed. Does IRAS 16293–2422 have a hot core? Chemical inventory and abundance changes in its protostellar environment

A detailed radiative transfer analysis of the observed continuum and molecular line emission toward the deeply embedded young stellar object IRAS 16293–2422 is performed. Accurate molecular abundances and abundance changes with radius are presented. The continuum modelling is used to constrain the temperature and density distributions in the envelope, enabling quantitative estimates of various ...

Does Iras 16293–2422 Contain a Hot Core? New Interferometric Results

High angular resolution H2CO line observations have been carried out for the low mass proto-binary star IRAS 16293–2422 using the OVROmillimeter array. Simultaneous continuum observations reveal that the source most probably contains two accretion disks, less than ∼ 250AU in size, through which matter is fed onto the stars. The observations suggest that the binary has cleared most of the materi...

The ALMA-PILS survey: Detection of CH3NCO toward the low-mass protostar IRAS 16293-2422 and laboratory constraints on its formation

Methyl isocyanate (CH3NCO) belongs to a select group of interstellar molecules considered to be relevant precursors in the formation of larger organic compounds, including those with peptide bonds. The molecule has only been detected in a couple of high-mass protostars and potentially on comets. A formation route on icy grains has been postulated for this molecule but experimental evidence is l...

Discovery of Interstellar Heavy Water

We report the discovery of doubly deuterated water (D2O, heavy water) in the interstellar medium. Using the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope and the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory 10 m telescope, we detected the 110–101 transition of para-D2O at 316.7998 GHz in both absorption and emission toward the protostellar binary system IRAS 16293 2422. Assuming that the D2O exists primarily in the warm ...

Arcsecond-resolution spectral observations toward the protobinary system IRAS 16293-2422 at 344 and 354 GHz were conducted using the Submillimeter Array. Complex organic molecules such as CH3OH and HCOOCH3 were detected. Together with the rich organic inventory revealed, it clearly indicates the existence of two, rather than one, compact hot molecular cores (. 400 AU in radius) associated with ...
